The official inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump will take place today (Monday) in Washington, marking the start of his second term. The event will feature numerous ceremonies and events, including a meeting with outgoing President Joe Biden at the White House, Trump’s first official speech, and musical performances. Thousands of protesters are expected to demonstrate against the incoming president, and approximately 20 members of Congress plan to boycott the ceremony.

Key Events

Trump is scheduled to speak at a celebratory dinner today and visit a venue in Washington where his inauguration will be screened for his supporters. The day will begin with a church visit, followed by a meeting at the White House with President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden.

The official inauguration events will include a musical performance expected at 4:30 PM (Israel time), the ceremony scheduled for 6:30 PM and the inauguration itself at 7:00 PM. During the inauguration, Trump will officially sign appointments and take his first steps as president, entering the Oval Office at the White House for the first time in this term.

Unprecedented Guests

Trump broke another tradition by inviting foreign leaders to attend his inauguration, a departure from past presidents who avoided diplomatic politicization of the event. Members of the Yesha Council delegation and families of American hostages are expected to be among the attendees.

Starting last night and continuing throughout the inauguration celebrations, a special message from the Yesha Council will be displayed on a prominent billboard in Times Square, New York. This marks the first time a message from Judea and Samaria or the Yesha Council has been featured in such a central location.

Last night, dozens of Jewish students and young adults gathered in Times Square wearing “Trump” hats to show their support for the initiative. They expressed gratitude to the incoming president for his steadfast support of Israel and the settlements in Judea and Samaria.
