Mike Huckabee, President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for U.S. ambassador to Israel, has expressed unequivocal opposition to the idea of a “two-state solution.”
In an interview with FOX News, Huckabee stated: “Gaza was a Palestinian state, and look how that turned out.” He argued that a Palestinian state cannot coexist with a Jewish state as long as Palestinians maintain the belief that Israel should cease to exist.

“The Palestinians Don’t Believe in Coexistence”

Huckabee, a former governor of Arkansas and a staunch supporter of Israel, added: “Palestinians don’t believe in coexistence. They believe in a one-state solution—theirs, with Israel gone.” He emphasized Israel’s historical rights, stating: “Israel has every right, as the indigenous people, to autonomy in their homeland, which dates back 3,500 years to the time of Abraham.”

Praise for the Trump Administration

Huckabee expressed surprise at rumors of potential discussions about a two-state solution during Trump’s upcoming term. He praised Trump’s previous administration for recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, moving the U.S. embassy there, and acknowledging Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

If confirmed as ambassador, Huckabee is expected to strengthen ties between Washington and Jerusalem, with a focus on bolstering Israel’s security.
