The IDF Spokesperson stated: “The IDF and Shin Bet will continue to act forcefully against the terrorists who took part in the brutal massacre of October 7.”
The Bibas Family Abduction and Murder
The abduction of the Bibas family to the Gaza Strip occurred during the massacre in Nir Oz as part of the October 7 attack. Palestinian terrorists kidnapped mother Shiri, along with her young children, four-year-old Ariel and nine-month-old Kfir, from their home in Nir Oz. Kfir was the youngest of all those kidnapped from Israel to Gaza during the attack. The father of the family, Yarden, had been kidnapped earlier within the kibbutz grounds.
On February 1, 2025, Yarden was released and returned to Israel as part of the second ceasefire agreement, along with Keith Segal and Ofer Calderon from Kibbutz Nir Oz.
Ofer Calderon and Yarden Bibas were the first to arrive at the reception point in the south, where there was an emotional reunion between Yarden, his father, and his sister. At the same time, Ofer Calderon was flown by an Air Force helicopter to the hospital, where he was also reunited with his family.

On February 20 and 22, the bodies of Kfir, Ariel, and Shiri Bibas were returned to Israel. A post-mortem examination confirmed that Shiri and the children were murdered by their captors, who then attempted to disguise the murder as an Israeli airstrike by mutilating the bodies. Israeli forensic experts’ findings and intelligence reports found that Shiri and the children were murdered by their captors some time after their abduction, with the infants horrifically being killed by hand.
Yarden Bibas Responds: “A Small Part of Closure”
Following the elimination of the terrorist involved in his abduction, former hostage Yarden Bibas issued the following statement:
“A small part of my closure happened today. Thank you to the IDF, Shin Bet, and everyone who took part in eliminating one of the terrorists who kidnapped me on October 7. Thanks to you, he will never be able to harm anyone again. Please take care of yourselves, heroes. I await full closure with the return of my friends David and Ariel and the remaining 48 male and female hostages.”
