The family of Or Levy, who was freed from Hamas captivity over Shabbat, released a moving statement of Saturday night to the people of Israel. “Our hearts tremble, and our minds refuse to believe the sight of Or’s face, who has returned to us in such a dire condition. His face tells the story of the hell he endured at the hands of Hamas monsters. After an unbearable period of darkness, we can finally embrace him again and begin rebuilding his body and spirit.”

The family described the first moments of their emotional reunion with Or: “We hugged him tightly, tighter than ever before, and still, it is hard to believe that he is truly here. We eagerly await the moment when little Almog and Or will finally be reunited.”
Remembering Einav, Or’s Late Wife
Amid their overwhelming emotions, the family also paid tribute to Einav, Or’s wife and the mother of their son Almog, who was murdered at the Nova music festival on October 7: “Her loss has left an unfillable void in all our hearts. We believe she is watching from above and smiling, seeing Almog finally receive his father’s embrace.”

In closing, the family expressed deep gratitude to the people of Israel for the support and love they received throughout their painful journey: “Thank you from the depths of our hearts for every word, every gesture, every prayer—each one meant the world to us. Now, we need time for our family to gather, to begin the healing and recovery process. Please respect our privacy at this time.”
