Today (Tuesday), Oded Lifshitz, Z”l, is being laid to rest. Lifshitz, a founding pioneer of Kibbutz Nir Oz, was abducted from his home during the massacre on October 7 and murdered while in Hamas captivity. Hundreds of Israelis accompanied the funeral procession with Israeli flags along the roads, at major intersections and at the cemetery in kibbutz Nir Oz. President Isaac Herzog will deliver remarks.

Watch the live broadcast of the funeral:
Last week, Lifshitz’s remains were returned from Hamas captivity and transferred to the The National Center of Forensic Medicine in Abu Kabir for the identification procedures. The Lifshitz family issued a statement: “We received with great sorrow the official and bitter news regarding the identification of the body of our beloved Oded. 503 torturous days of uncertainty have come to an end. We hoped and prayed that our ending would be different—when we could mourn for the husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who has been missing since October 7. Our family restoration will begin now and will not end until the last hostage returns.”
