This morning (Wednesday), officers from the Netivot Police Station, part of the Southern District Police, discovered a suspicious bag in an open area near the entrance to the city. The bag bore Arabic writing, and upon inspection, was found to contain an explosive device.
Equipment Possibly Left Behind by Terrorists on October 7
A preliminary examination by a police bomb disposal expert indicates that the bag may have been left by terrorists who attempted to infiltrate the city of Netivot during the October 7 attack, but encountered Israeli police and municipal security forces who were working to secure the city perimeter.
Bomb disposal units from the Southern District Police are currently working to neutralize the device and conduct a full investigation.
