At a moving memorial ceremony held Tuesday morning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar honored the memory of Israeli diplomats who lost their lives while serving their nation across the globe.

In his address, Sa’ar emphasized the unique contribution of those who represented Israel’s values abroad and paid the ultimate price far from home.

They Fell Like Soldiers at Their Posts
“The fallen of the Foreign Ministry were murdered far from their homes and homeland. They fell like soldiers standing guard, representing Israel, embodying the State, fighting for its just cause, and advancing its interests,” Sa’ar said.

He described Israel’s diplomatic arena as a true front line, noting that diplomats face constant threats and challenges on the world stage.

A Time of Heightened Global Risk
Sa’ar warned that the coming period will likely be especially sensitive, citing a rise in threats to Jews and Israelis worldwide. He called for heightened vigilance and caution among diplomatic missions and Jewish communities.

A Nation Bows Its Head in Remembrance
Concluding his speech, Sa’ar said: “Today, the State of Israel and its Foreign Ministry bow their heads in memory of our fallen. Their lives and sacrifices will forever be etched into the heart of the nation.”
