Thanks to a precise and effective intelligence and operational effort, half of the leadership of the military wing of Hamas has been eliminated up to this stage of the war in a series of attacks and countermeasures. The IDF continues the important task of pursuing the top leaders of the Hamas terrorist organization as part of the goal of dismantling the organization’s capabilities.
So far, the IDF has attacked approximately 37,000 targets from the air in the Gaza Strip, and more than 25,000 terrorist infrastructures and launch sites. The fire center of the Southern Command, in cooperation with the Air Force, directs the airstrikes while carrying out rapid circuit closures against attack sites from which rockets were launched towards the country and the forces in Gaza.
Alongside this, the IDF concentrates its efforts on locating terrorists who are located and based in sensitive sites throughout the Gaza Strip, including hospitals, schools and humanitarian shelters. These are cynically exploited by terrorists who try to use them as hideouts and terrorist bases. Attacks against these infrastructures are carried out in accordance with the law international and its purpose is to prevent the restoration of the capabilities of terrorist organizations.
The intelligence division and the intelligence system of the Southern Command produce high-quality intelligence that enables and supports the fighting of the maneuvering forces all over the Strip. This intelligence enables the execution of a series of proactive operations and targeted raids against terrorist infrastructures and terrorist concentrations, based on accurate intelligence indications.
The forces in the field fight simultaneously above ground and underground. The engineering setup of the Southern Command created an action plan against the Hamas underground system and is working to continue mapping and destroying it in a thorough manner. So far, IDF forces have destroyed dozens of production sites and lathes, underground offensive lines and strategists of the organization.
