A fire broke out earlier today (Sunday) between the communities of Lavon and Hukok. Due to concern about the fire spreading and the nature of access roads in the area, Israel Police decided to evacuate the first row of houses in Hukok. Police officers are currently at the scene along with firefighting crews working to prevent the flames from spreading. Route 90 has been closed to traffic near these communities; Israel Police are on-site directing vehicles to alternate routes.
Firefighting Teams Working to Contain the Flames
Thirty-five firefighting crews from the Northern District are operating at the scene, alongside ten aircraft from the Elad aerial firefighting squadron, a police reconnaissance helicopter, firefighting teams, and firefighting ATVs from nearby communities. Additional teams from other Northern District stations are en route. At this stage, several agricultural structures have caught fire. The crews are working to gain control and prevent further spread.
