Sirens sounded this morning (Friday) at 06:36 in multiple areas across Israel: Jerusalem, Dan, Sharon, Shfela, Yarkon, Lachish, the Judean Foothills, and Samaria. A few minutes later, the IDF Spokesperson confirmed that a missile launched from Yemen had been intercepted. “Alerts were activated according to policy,” the statement said.

Magen David Adom reported: “No calls were received regarding injuries, except for a few people who were hurt on their way to protected spaces.”

More warning time for missile fire from Yemen
Israel’s defense establishment has been working for several weeks to extend the alert time for missile launches from Yemen. “From now on, the Home Front Command app will issue an early instruction regarding missile fire from Yemen toward Israeli territory, approximately 3 to 5 minutes before the main alert advising entry into a protected space,” the Home Front Command announced yesterday.

How does it work?
The early instruction will be delivered via the Home Front Command app as a notification sound—without the rising and falling siren. A message will appear on the phone screen stating: “In the coming minutes, alerts may be received in your area.” Additionally, the IDF Spokesperson will release a statement indicating that missile fire from Yemen is possible in the coming minutes, and that the public should follow the Home Front Command’s instructions.

What to do when an early instruction is received?

  • If you’re at home without a reinforced room, but there’s a shared shelter you can reach within a few minutes—go there.
  • If you’re driving and can reach a nearby building—use the extra time to get inside.
  • If you’re in a built-up but unfamiliar area, or in open terrain—look for the closest structure.
  • If your children are playing outside—call them home. You can also instruct them to enter the nearest building nearby.

Note: The early instruction does not require you to enter a protected space. Its purpose is to give citizens extra time and information to be alert and better prepared. You should only enter a shelter if an actual alert is triggered in your area, and follow the designated response time. As a reminder, once inside a protected space, you should remain there for 10 minutes.
