As the IDF intensifies its operations on multiple fronts—including against the Houthi threat from Yemen—the Home Front Command and IDF Spokesperson have approved a policy change: the public will now receive official notifications a few minutes before sirens are triggered, in the event of long-range missile launches. The aim is to reduce public panic and curb the spread of online rumors. According to a report by Hillel Biton Rosen, the change will be implemented rapidly.

Earlier this week, sirens were heard in Jerusalem, the central region, and the Shfela, following a ballistic missile launch from Yemen by Houthi rebels. According to the IDF Spokesperson, the missile was successfully intercepted by the Israeli Air Force before it crossed into Israeli airspace.

Debris Located at Multiple Sites
In the Tzur Hadassah regional council area, a missile fragment was found on the grounds of a local school. In Moshav Eshtaol, two pieces of interceptor debris were reported—one on the roof of a private home and another in a backyard. At nearby Shimshon Junction, debris landed on the roof of a car, while additional fragments were found in open areas in Moshav Ta’oz and along Route 375.

During the sirens, a 42-year-old woman was moderately injured after falling into a roadside ditch near the Ganot Interchange. She was treated at the scene by United Hatzalah medics and transported to Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov).

Fell from a Height While Running to Shelter
“When we arrived, bystanders told us she had fallen about three meters into a roadside ditch while running for shelter during the siren,” said United Hatzalah medics Aharon Avital and Menachem Slovitzky. “Together with other medics, we gave her medical treatment and then transported her by intensive care ambulance to Ichilov. Her condition was moderate.”

In a separate incident, a 34-year-old woman was injured by the door of a protected room. MDA medics treated her on the scene and transported her to the hospital with significant injury to her finger.

Ninth Launch from Yemen
This was the ninth missile launch from Yemen targeting Israel since the resumption of fighting in Gaza about two weeks ago. Just last Thursday, Israeli forces intercepted two additional missiles fired by the Houthis, which also triggered sirens across the country, including in the Jerusalem and central regions.

The IDF emphasized that sirens are activated in accordance with policy—even when launches are intercepted outside of Israeli territory—in order to maintain public readiness and ensure the safety of civilians.
