The troubling trend continues. During routine operations in the Silwan neighborhood of East Jerusalem, Border Police officers came across a monkey chained with a heavy iron link to a green dumpster placed along the roadside.

Police Open Investigation
The monkey appeared to be held in harsh and harmful conditions. The officers promptly alerted the Israel Nature and Parks Authority, whose representatives arrived quickly to rescue the animal and provide the necessary medical attention. The case is now under professional examination.

Police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident. Authorities say those responsible for the illegal captivity of the monkey will face legal proceedings under Israel’s animal protection laws.

This case is part of a wider phenomenon. Over the past month, Israeli police have intensified a national operation targeting the smuggling of wild animals. So far, they have seized over ten monkeys, several lion cubs, crocodiles, snakes, turtles, and other exotic creatures.
