Historic and defiant protests in the Gaza Strip against Hamas’s continued rule are expanding. Reported today (Wednesday) by the Saudi media outlet Al-Hadath, the protests began in the northern Gaza Strip and have now rapidly spread to the south, fueled by increasing public anger over the dire humanitarian situation and the ongoing war.
“Hamas Must Immediately Remove Its Grip”
According to the report, the initiative is being led by activists from the Fatah movement, who are calling on residents to join the protests and express a clear voice against Hamas leadership. “Gaza is not being held hostage by anyone,” said families from the south. “Hamas must immediately remove its grip! Gaza will be liberated, as the people wish.”
In the Shejaiya neighborhood in the northern Gaza Strip, residents called for a widespread “rage march”: “We’ve paid a heavy price, and we continue to pay it day after day, while the leaders ignore us and leave us to die and starve. Stop trading in our blood! Stop meddling with the future of our children!”

The riotous demonstrations are a relatively rare phenomenon, as Hamas has consistently and often violently suppressed any form of opposition to its rule within the Gaza Strip over the years. According to reports, local terrorist forces are preparing to block the protests and monitor their organizers.
Earlier this morning, two rockets were fired towards Israel, with one rocket intercepted and the other falling in an open area. The terrorist organization Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the launches. Shortly thereafter, an IDF spokesperson issued an evacuation notice for several neighborhoods from which the rockets were fired.
The growing protests in Gaza signal a shift in public sentiment as residents, fueled by frustration with the ongoing war and harsh conditions, demand an end to Hamas’s rule. As these rare demonstrations continue to spread, local authorities are bracing for further unrest while Hamas faces increasing pressure from within its own territory.
