Israeli police continue to uncover details of the case that has captivated the country. The Northern District Police reported today (Sunday) that another monkey was found in an open area near the town of Daburiyya. A wide-scale investigation revealed that the lions and monkeys recently discovered in Israel were smuggled from Jordan and Egypt using drones. This was reported by journalist Almog Boker.
Police and Nature and Parks Authority Issue Public Warning
The monkey, which was being held illegally, was taken in for care and examination by inspectors from the Israel Nature and Parks Authority. This is the latest in a series of incidents in which rare wildlife species have been found in Israel after being smuggled across the country’s borders.

Officials from the Nature and Parks Authority emphasized that keeping monkeys as private pets is a serious offense due to the significant harm it causes to the animals. “Monkeys require complex environmental conditions, including proper social interaction. Keeping them in private hands harms their well-being and may even expose humans to dangerous diseases.”

Concerns Over Tetanus Infection After Monkey’s Death
At the same time, it was reported this morning that one of the recently confiscated monkeys died from tetanus. As a result, the Nature and Parks Authority issued an urgent warning to anyone who may have come into contact with monkeys to seek medical evaluation due to the risk of infection. Tetanus is a dangerous disease that can be fatal without proper medical treatment.

In recent weeks, authorities have uncovered that smuggling networks used advanced drones to transport rare animals into Israel through the borders with Jordan and Egypt. This alarming phenomenon endangers not only the animals but also the general public.
