Freed Hostage: “Even in captivity, I saw how you fought for me!”

This past weekend marked a significant milestone in the hostage deal, as four female border observers who were abducted from the Nahal Oz outpost on October 7, 2023, returned to Israel after 477 days in captivity under the Hamas terror organization.

One of the released hostages, Naama Levy, posted on Instagram today (Tuesday) to share her emotional reflections on her time in captivity and her return home.

“I’m Finally Home”
Levy began her heartfelt post with the words, “I’m home,” and wrote: “After 477 days, I’m finally home. I am safe and secure, surrounded by my family and friends, and feeling better with each passing day.” She expressed her relief and gratitude upon her return, alongside her hopes for the release of the remaining hostages.

“We Strengthened Each Other”
Levy described the harrowing early days of her captivity, when she was held alone:
“During the first 50 days following October 7, I was alone most of the time.” Later, she was joined by her fellow captives, both other soldiers and civilians: “I was held with my fellow border observers and civilians, who gave me strength and hope. We supported and strengthened each other until the day of our release and even beyond.”

“I Saw How You Fought for Me”
In her conclusion, Levy shared a hopeful message: “We’re waiting for Agam and the other hostages so we can complete the healing process together.” She also expressed deep gratitude to the IDF soldiers and the entire nation of Israel: “Even in captivity, I saw how you fought for me! Thank you all—I love you.”

As reported yesterday, the Prime Minister’s Office announced that hostages Arbel Yehud and Agam Berger will be released from Hamas captivity in an additional phase set to take place this Thursday. Another hostage is also expected to be released alive. Furthermore, three more hostages are slated for release on Saturday under the current agreement.
