Avichay Adraee, the IDF’s Arabic-language spokesperson, issued a warning today (Thursday) to residents of the al-Nuseirat neighborhood in central Gaza. But beyond the brief statement lay a much deeper message: the IDF has exposed exact locations, names, photos, and activities of senior Hamas terror commanders operating from within the civilian population.

“This is how Hamas operatives hide among you”
In his Arabic-language statement, Adraee called on local residents to distance themselves from Hamas members and denounce them:
“Hamas uses your civilian infrastructure to promote terror. The terrorists are living right among you. Expel them—before it’s too late.”

Alongside the message, an extraordinary image was shared: a map of the al-Nuseirat area showing the locations of schools used by Hamas for operational activity and rocket launch infrastructure, as well as photos and names of senior commanders hiding in the neighborhood—including Ahmad Dawari, Mohammad Abu Laydeh, Hazem Misach, and others.

The message to the enemy
The purpose of the statement wasn’t just to warn residents—it also sent a clear message to Hamas: the IDF knows where you are, where you operate from, and who is responsible.

Defense officials say this move is part of a psychological campaign designed to generate internal pressure within the Gaza Strip and shake the confidence of Hamas leadership.

Adraee concluded his statement with a direct warning:
“Stay away from Hamas infrastructure! The fate of anyone who cooperates with terrorism is the same.”
