The Israeli Air Force struck Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon this morning (Friday), in a wave of attacks labeled by Lebanese media as a “wall of fire.” The IDF confirms the primary target was a site used to manage the organization’s fire and defense systems in the Beaufort Ridge area.

According to reports, the target was an underground project that had previously been attacked by the IDF, but recent Hezbollah efforts to restore the site were detected. “Terror infrastructure was targeted as part of an effort to prevent the site’s restoration,” the IDF stated. The military emphasized that the existence of the site and attempts to reactivate it constitute a clear violation of understandings between Israel and Lebanon, and that the IDF will not allow its continued operation.

Following the strike, Lebanese media reported damage to a civilian building and casualties. A statement by the IDF’s Arabic-language spokesperson, clarified: “Based on the information we have, the building was hit by a rocket that was inside the site, launched and exploded as a result of the raid.” The IDF emphasized that the target of the operation was an operational Hezbollah post used for fire control and defense.

Hezbollah Endangers Civilians – Lebanese Government Is Responsible
The statement added that the terrorist Hezbollah organization continues to store its aggressive rockets near residential buildings and Lebanese civilians, thereby endangering them.

The IDF stressed: “The Lebanese government bears responsibility for what happens in its territory due to its failure to confiscate Hezbollah’s heavy weapons and rockets.”

“No Impact on the Civilian Area”
Municipalities and communities in the Upper Galilee informed residents that the explosions heard in recent minutes were due to the airstrikes in Lebanon. “There is no impact on the civilian area and no special instructions for the public at this time,” clarified a municipal spokesperson from one of the nearby authorities.

This morning’s strikes are part of a series of attacks along the northern front in recent weeks.
