US Homeland Security Secretary Visits Israel, Plants Tree in Memory of Yaron Lischinsky

After last week’s terror attack in Washington, President Trump instructed Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to visit Israel. She landed in Israel Sunday evening.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met today (Monday) in his Jerusalem office with U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the Secretary expressed unequivocal support for the State of Israel, and voiced strong appreciation for the Prime Minister’s policy on constructing the border fence with Egypt and his conduct in managing the war.

At the Western Wall
Secretary Noem took the opportunity of being in Jerusalem on Jerusalem Day to visit the Western Wall. Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, Rabbi of the Western Wall and Holy Places, greeted her there. They read a chapter of Psalms and a said a prayer in commemoration of terror victims Yaron Lischinsky and Sara Milgram, who were murdered in Washington.

“True Solidarity Between Our Nations”
In an emotional and intimate ceremony at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem, U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem planted a tree in memory of Yaron Lischinsky, who was murdered along with Sarah Milgram in the Washington terror attack. The event was hosted by Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar.

The ceremony included the lighting of a memorial candle, eulogies by Minister Sa’ar, and the tree planting in the Ministry’s memorial grove. Sa’ar thanked Secretary Noem for her visit and said: “This visit demonstrates solidarity and illustrates the close ties between our nations. Our hearts are broken by the tragic loss of young, promising lives.”

“Israel Will Never Surrender to Terror”
Sa’ar addressed the commitment of Israel and the United States to the fight against terrorism, noting the close cooperation with the Trump administration in the investigation of the attack. “There is no other country in the world that has achieved more impressive results against America’s enemies. Israel will never surrender to terror,” he said.
