A unique incident occurred this week at the Taba border crossing. Maritime security forces identified a Korean tourist attempting to infiltrate Israel by swimming.
The Tourist Tried His Luck Again
According to the information received, the man is a Korean citizen who had already tried to enter Israel in April 2025, but his entry was denied.
Instead of giving up, the tourist decided to try his luck again—this time by sea. After failing to enter officially through the land border crossing, he attempted to swim along the coastline to reach Israel. However, maritime security forces spotted him ahead of time, detained him, and transferred him for questioning by the Population and Immigration Authority.

“A Case Like This Is Indeed Unique”
In the past 24 hours, the tourist underwent a hearing at the Enforcement and Foreigners Administration. Following the examination, a deportation order from Israel was issued. The Population and Immigration Authority noted that while they have encountered particularly creative infiltration attempts over the years, this case stands out as unique and rare.
The Population and Immigration Authority stated:
“Over the years, we have encountered particularly creative cases. An incident like this is indeed unique.”
