U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio arrived in Israel last night (Saturday) as part of his first official visit since assuming office. During his trip, he is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Isaac Herzog, and Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar.
Today, Secretary Rubio will hold discussions with the families of American hostages still held by Hamas. His visit will focus on three key issues: securing the release of hostages—including American citizens—still in Hamas captivity, advancing the second phase of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, and strategic planning to counter Iran and its regional proxies in the Middle East.
A Strong U.S.-Israel Partnership
Rubio, who was appointed as Secretary of State by President Donald Trump, has made clear his pro-Israel stance. During his confirmation hearing, he vowed to reverse the sanctions imposed by the Biden administration on Israeli activities in Judea and Samaria (West Bank). “The Trump administration will be the most pro-Israel administration in U.S. history,” Rubio declared during the hearing.

Rubio’s Stance on the International Criminal Court
As part of his policy commitments, Rubio also criticized the International Criminal Court (ICC) for issuing arrest warrants against senior Israeli officials. “The ICC has damaged its own credibility by targeting a country that is not even a member,” Rubio stated. “This is a dangerous precedent, not just for Israel but for the United States as well. The court is testing whether it can pursue leaders of non-member states, and that could include the U.S. in the future.”
