The U.S. State Department on Monday approved a $510 million arms deal with Israel, which includes JDAM (Joint Direct Attack Munition) guidance kits for penetrating, precision-guided bombs.

The deal is expected to significantly boost Israel’s defense capabilities and strengthen bilateral security cooperation with the United States.

Precision and Penetration Power
The approved sale includes 3,845 KMU-558B/B kits for BLU-109 bombs and 3,280 KMU-572 F/B kits for MK-82 bombs.

These kits are designed to upgrade bomb guidance systems and improve accuracy, enhancing Israel’s precision strike capabilities. Alongside the equipment, Israel will also receive logistical and engineering support from the U.S. government and private contractors.

Reinforcing Defensive Capabilities
According to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), the deal will improve Israel’s self-defense capabilities and bolster security ties with U.S. forces. Over the years, Israel has become a key partner in the U.S. defense alliance, and this deal marks another step in reinforcing that relationship.

The primary contractor is Boeing, which will supply the guidance kits. Part of the inventory will be drawn from U.S. military stockpiles, reducing costs and streamlining the delivery process.
