In a joint operation by the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) and the Northern District’s Central Unit (Yamar) of the Israel Police, two Israeli Arab residents of Deir al-Asad were arrested in recent weeks on suspicion of conspiring to carry out a terror attack against Jews.
According to the findings of the Shin Bet and police investigation, Abd al-Rahman Omar, a resident of the village, planned to carry out a car-ramming attack targeting Jews, in collaboration with others. The motivation was connected to the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip and Omar’s support for Hamas.

The Two Consumed Extremist ISIS-Inspired Content
According to the investigation, the second suspect, Nahar Asadi, also a resident of Deir al-Asad, agreed to Omar’s proposal to carry out a terror attack against Jews. It was also discovered that the planning of the attack occurred while both suspects were consuming extremist materials with ISIS-oriented content.
