Despite U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent comments favoring a diplomatic path with Iran, Reuters reported today (Saturday) that Israel is weighing a potential strike on Tehran’s nuclear facilities in the coming months. According to the report, senior Israeli and American officials confirmed that contingency plans have been presented, including airstrikes and commando operations—some of which could be implemented within months.

Strike Preparations and Signals from Tehran
The report states that Israel presented the White House with a range of strike scenarios, varying in scale and severity. However, diplomatic sources noted that given Trump’s more cautious stance, Israel is considering a limited operation that would not require broad U.S. military involvement. The Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem declined to comment, but a senior Israeli official told Reuters: “No decision has been made yet regarding an attack on Iran.”

The Iranian Response
An Iranian security official claimed that Tehran possesses intelligence on Israel’s strike plans. Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has landed in Rome ahead of renewed talks with the United States.

“I Didn’t Stop a Strike — I’m Just Not in a Hurry”
Last week, President Trump addressed a New York Times report suggesting he had blocked an Israeli strike planned for May. He clarified:
“I didn’t stop a strike — I’m just not in a hurry to strike.”
He added:
“I think Iran wants to talk. I hope so. I want to see Iran prosper. I don’t want to hurt anyone — but Iran must not be allowed to have nuclear weapons.”
