The Trump administration is advancing a significant military aid package for the IDF, valued at over $1 billion, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal. The package is expected to include thousands of advanced half-ton bombs for the Israeli Air Force, replenishing stockpiles depleted after a year and a half of multi-front combat. Additionally, the aid package will include hundreds of millions of dollars in armored bulldozers, which have proven essential for engineering teams, clearing routes, and maneuvering in urban warfare.

Alongside this aid, in recent days, President Trump has lifted restrictions on additional weapons shipments that were imposed during the Biden administration as a pressure tactic on Israel. Furthermore, reports indicate that during his crucial meeting tonight, Prime Minister Netanyahu will seek to persuade Trump to approve an even larger aid package worth $8 billion—potentially one of the largest in U.S. history.

Declining Domestic Opposition

The shipment had previously been delayed due to opposition from some factions within the Democratic Party, who sought to leverage military aid as a tool to influence Israeli policy. However, with the new Trump administration in place, Republicans now control both houses of Congress. Additionally, unlike a few months ago, this development is expected to receive minimal media attention in the U.S., overshadowed by other bold moves Trump has undertaken in global and Middle Eastern affairs in his first two weeks in office.

The Middle East is also expected to play a key role in potential mediation efforts between the U.S. and Russia. According to multiple sources in Russia, Trump is interested in meeting with President Vladimir Putin at a summit hosted by one of the Gulf states—likely Saudi Arabia or the UAE. This move is aimed at facilitating a ceasefire in the Ukraine war, which Trump has repeatedly pledged to bring to a successful resolution as soon as possible.
