Yuval Rafael, chosen just last week to represent Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest, has made waves on betting platforms, jumping to second place in predictions for the global singing competition. The event will be held this May in Basel, Switzerland.

Rafael won the spot after outperforming other contestants in the final of the Israeli reality show The Next Star for Eurovision. During the finale, she performed Dancing Queen by ABBA and Writing’s on the Wall by Sam Smith.

Survivor of the October 7th Massacre

Rafael, 24, from Ra’anana, survived the Nova music festival massacre on October 7. She suffered shrapnel wounds and hid in a bomb shelter, known as the “shelter of death,” pretending to be dead among the bodies to escape the attack.

Next Tuesday, the semi-final draw for Eurovision will take place in Malmö. The song Rafael will perform at the contest is expected to be revealed in early March.

In May, 36 countries will participate in the Eurovision Song Contest, including representatives from Albania, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Montenegro, and the Netherlands, who have already been chosen. However, Moldova announced its withdrawal from the competition yesterday, citing “a detailed analysis of current circumstances and economic, administrative, and artistic challenges.”
