IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir conducted an operational visit today (Sunday) to Shayetet 13 at the Atlit naval base, accompanied by Navy Commander Maj. Gen. David Saar Salama, the commander of Shayetet 13, and additional senior officers.
During the visit, he was presented with the unit’s achievements and special operations conducted since the outbreak of the war. The Chief of Staff also spoke with soldiers from different operational sectors, expressed deep appreciation for their efforts, and made it clear: the IDF is stepping up its combat efforts.

Troop Reinforcement
One of the key messages Zamir conveyed: the widespread mobilization of reserve forces. “This week, we are issuing tens of thousands of call-up orders to our reservists in order to strengthen and expand our operations in Gaza,” said the Chief of Staff. He emphasized that this is a prolonged military operation, which is expected to include combat in additional areas and the destruction of all Hamas infrastructure – both above and below ground.

In his remarks, the Chief of Staff emphasized the unique contribution of Shayetet 13 to the broader war effort: “You, the fighters of Shayetet, are a unique unit that has performed with excellence throughout the war. We will continue to strengthen the naval dimension – special operations at sea and from the sea – as part of the IDF’s strategic capabilities.”
He concluded his visit with a call for continued full operational partnership between all branches of the IDF – regulars, career soldiers, reservists, front-line units, and the home front: “That’s what we need to carry out our missions.”
