Survivors and Supporters Rally to Defend October 7 Hero

Rami Davidian, who rescued hundreds from the Nova music festival and was selected to light a torch on Independence Day, is receiving an outpouring of public support following Channel 13’s plan to air a report questioning his heroism.

Rami Davidian is a resident of Moshav Patish in southern Israel. He became a national symbol of bravery after saving dozens of lives during the October 7 terror attack and massacre at the Nova music festival.

On that day, Hamas-led terrorists breached the Israeli border with Gaza and carried out a brutal surprise assault across Israeli communities in the area. Bases were overrun and entire families were slaughtered in their homes. The Nova festival, a peaceful all-night dance gathering near Kibbutz Re’im, turned into a massacre as gunmen stormed the site, murdering over 360 attendees and abducting dozens. It was one of the single deadliest events in Israeli history.

Amid the chaos, Davidian received a call from a friend asking for his help in rescuing a young man trapped at the festival. Without hesitation, he drove toward the danger zone and under fire, began evacuating survivors. He returned to the area overrun with ravaging terrorists again and again, determined to save as many people as possible.

For his courageous actions, Davidian was selected to light one of the twelve torches at Israel’s 76th Independence Day ceremony — one of the country’s highest civilian honors.

Channel 13’s investigation sparks backlash
In recent months, Israel has been commemorating victims and recognizing civilian heroes who took action on that dark day. Davidian’s story stood out, bolstered by firsthand accounts from survivors who described how he saved their lives.

Recently, however, Channel 13 announced its intention to air an investigative report casting doubt on the number of people Davidian rescued. The announcement drew an outrages response online, with many rallying to defend Davidian.

Social activist Yoseph Haddad, an Arab-Israeli IDF veteran known for his advocacy on behalf of Israel, Israeli unity and coexistence, wrote:
“Rami Davidian is an Israeli hero who risked his life to save others… How low can the media go to try to smear someone like him?”

Media personality Meni Assayag commented:
“There’s an inspiring wave of survivors coming forward to testify about Rami Davidian’s acts of heroism. He is our real hero. I ask you, dear Jews, from the bottom of my heart: don’t watch the upcoming [channel 13] episode , which aims only to defame this dear man and question his credibility. Do it for him—don’t watch.”

“I don’t care if Rami Davidian saved 100 people from Nova, or 400, or 700”
The father of one of the young victims also responded:
“Rami Davidian left his home on the morning of October 7 with extraordinary courage… How cruel, how vicious, to try to tarnish the name of a man who was out there saving lives while others sat behind a keyboard?”

Another media figure wrote:
“I don’t care whether Rami Davidian saved 100 people from the Nova, or 400, or 700. What’s certain is that he’s a hero. We should all be so lucky to have his kind of merit. Whoever saves one life—it is as if they have saved an entire world.”
