Mike Huckabee, the new United States ambassador to Israel, is expected to land in the country today (Thursday) and formally present his letter of credence to President Isaac Herzog early next week. Even before officially assuming his role, Huckabee announced that his first stop in Israel would be the Western Wall—where he plans to offer a personal prayer upon his arrival.
A Clear Appointment of a Pro-Israel Ally
Huckabee, a former governor of Arkansas and one-time U.S. presidential candidate, is a well-known figure in Republican politics and widely recognized as a strong supporter of Israel. His appointment was confirmed by the U.S. Senate last month in a 53–46 vote, with unanimous support from Republican senators and just one Democrat—John Fetterman—joining them.

More Than 100 Visits to Israel and Outspoken Support for the Settlements
A devout Evangelical Christian with firmly conservative values, Huckabee has long expressed open support for the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria. Over the years, he has made more than 100 visits to Israel and has consistently voiced unwavering support for the country’s right to defend itself.

According to associates, Huckabee’s deep familiarity with the Israeli landscape will make him a particularly effective ambassador—especially in light of current security and economic tensions, including ongoing discussions over mutual tariff reductions.
