Sirens in Central Israel: Impact Near Ben Gurion Airport – Several Lightly Injured

Following the missile fire from Yemen and the resulting impact – Ben Gurion Airport was temporarily closed and has since resumed operations. Magen David Adom reported three people evacuated to hospitals for medical treatment.

Sirens were activated this morning (Sunday) in the central and lowland regions following a missile launched by the Houthis from Yemen.

Paramedics from Magen David Adom provided medical treatment and evacuated three people to hospitals: a man around 50 years old in mild-to-moderate condition and a 54-year-old woman in mild condition from blast injuries were taken to Shamir–Assaf Harofeh and Sheba–Tel Hashomer hospitals. Another woman, aged 32, was also evacuated after being injured on the way to a protected area. Two additional individuals suffering from anxiety are being treated at the scene.

An IDF spokesperson stated: “Following alerts activated in several regions of the country, multiple interception attempts were made against a missile launched from Yemen. An impact was identified in the area of Ben Gurion Airport. The incident is being investigated.” Sirens were heard in the Judean Lowlands, Lachish, Sharon, Samaria, Dan, Yarkon, the Lowlands, Menashe, and Wadi Ara.

Officers from the Shfela District and police bomb disposal units are working in the debris impact area, aiming to isolate the site where a suspected munition fragment fell. They are scanning for remains and other items to eliminate any additional danger to the public.

Situation assessment at the impact site:
Central District Commander, Commissioner Yair Chatzroni, completed a situation assessment at the impact site. He received briefings from bomb disposal teams and the Airports Authority. The assessment included participation from Home Front Command, Fire and Rescue Services, and Ben Gurion Airport officials.

At the conclusion of the assessment, and based on the briefings, he ordered the completion of operational scanning. Afterward, air traffic was cleared to resume, alongside continued train operations and the reopening of access roads to the terminal.

Officers and bomb disposal units are operating in the area where debris fell, aiming to isolate the impact site of a suspected munitions fragment. They are scanning for additional remains and other objects to remove further risk to the public. Initially, Magen David Adom stated: “At this stage, no reports of injuries have been received. MDA teams have been dispatched to search the area where debris was suspected to have fallen.”

About twenty minutes later, they updated: “We’ve received calls about several people who were lightly injured by the impact in the Ben Gurion Airport area.”
