In a joint operation by the Tel Aviv District Fraud Unit and the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), Israeli police arrested a 13-and-a-half-year-old boy from Tel Aviv on suspicion of carrying out missions for Iranian operatives.

Contacted Through Telegram
The investigation revealed that in recent weeks, Iranian agents approached the minor through the Telegram messaging app and offered him various assignments in exchange for payment. The boy agreed and spray-painted graffiti in multiple locations around Tel Aviv according to their instructions. In return, he received money.

He was also asked to photograph the Iron Dome missile defense system—but that task was never carried out.

At the conclusion of the Fraud Unit’s investigation, the minor was released to house arrest. His parents were involved and kept informed throughout the entire legal process.

A Serious Crime That Can Lead to Severe Punishment
Both the police and the Shin Bet reiterate their warning: intelligence and terrorist organizations continue to use social media to try to recruit Israelis—including minors—for the purpose of advancing terrorist activity.

Parents are urged to stay alert, as these actions constitute a serious criminal offense that could lead to harsh penalties.
