Following a missile launch from Yemen toward Israel, which resulted in a missile exploding near Ben Gurion International Airport, Israeli security officials are preparing for a potential response. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to convene a security consultation this afternoon (Sunday), followed by a meeting of the Security Cabinet later in the day. A senior political source stated, “All options are on the table.”
Air raid sirens sounded this morning across wide areas of central Israel and the Shephelah region after a missile fired by the Houthis from Yemen breached Israeli airspace and detonated near Ben Gurion Airport. The IDF confirmed that interception attempts were made, but the missile still managed to get through. Shrapnel struck nearby areas, and civilians documented the event.

Ben Gurion Airport Resumes Full Operations
The Israel Airports Authority announced: “Departures and arrivals have returned to normal; Ben Gurion Airport is open for operations.” Earlier, a situation assessment took place at the site with Central District Police Commander Commissioner Yair Chatzroni, alongside representatives from the Home Front Command, Fire and Rescue Services, and the Airports Authority. After operational sweeps concluded, instructions were issued to reopen air traffic, rail services, and access routes to the terminal.
MDA medics and paramedics treated six individuals with mild to moderate injuries—including a 50-year-old man with limb injuries, two women affected by the blast wave, two people hurt while running to shelter, and another man injured by a flying object. Additionally, two people suffering from anxiety were treated.
IDF: “The Incident Is Under Investigation”
The IDF Spokesperson confirmed that the missile was launched from Yemen and that sirens were activated in multiple regions, including Gush Dan, the Judean Foothills, Yarkon, Samaria, Lachish, Menashe, and Wadi Ara. “Several interception attempts were made; the incident is under investigation.”
Defense Minister Israel Katz responded sharply: “Whoever harms us—we will strike back sevenfold.” Israel views the missile attack near Ben Gurion as a serious provocation and a red line and is currently formulating an operational response.
