“Terrorism is a shared enemy of both countries”
Sa’ar warned of the danger posed by cooperation between the Al-Shabaab terrorist group—active in the Horn of Africa—and the Iranian-backed Houthi militia. He emphasized that terrorism is a common enemy of both nations.
In his meetings, Sa’ar highlighted the deep and historic ties between Israel and Ethiopia and expressed the mutual desire to strengthen the alliance between the two countries—regional powers with a strategic partnership. The discussions also addressed ways to deepen cooperation in the areas of security, economy, trade, and innovation.

“Israel will respond”
At a joint press conference held in the afternoon, the Foreign Minister addressed the recent Houthi attacks and Israel’s expected response. “Just yesterday, they struck near our airport with a missile. They pose a threat to Israel, to Africa, and to the entire international community. Israel will respond,” Sa’ar declared.
