Rising Lion Day Six: IDF Pounds Tehran with Massive Airstrikes on Nuclear and Missile Sites

Over 50 Israeli jets struck Iranian centrifuge and weapons production facilities overnight. In Petah Tikva, four were killed in a direct missile hit, as rescue and evacuation efforts continue nationwide, and Israeli citizens begin to return home on special flights.

IDF Targets Military Infrastructure in Tehran in Wide-Scale Airstrikes
More than 50 Israeli Air Force fighter jets, guided by precise intelligence from the IDF Intelligence Directorate, carried out a series of overnight airstrikes (Tuesday-Wednesday) against Iranian military targets in the Tehran area.

As part of Israel’s broad campaign to disrupt Iran’s nuclear weapons program, a centrifuge production facility in Tehran was targeted. These centrifuges were intended to expand the regime’s capacity to enrich uranium at levels necessary for nuclear weapon development.

“Developing nuclear energy for civilian use does not require enrichment at these levels,” the IDF emphasized, pointing directly at Iran’s military intentions with its nuclear program.

Strikes on Additional Weapons Production Sites
In addition to the centrifuge facility, multiple weapons production sites were hit. These included a facility producing raw materials and components for ground-to-ground missiles that Iran has launched and continues to launch at Israel. Other strikes targeted sites involved in the production of systems and components for surface-to-air missiles aimed at downing aircraft.

These operations were part of a coordinated IDF effort to weaken both Iran’s nuclear weapons ambitions and its missile manufacturing industry.

Extensive Damage Confirmed; International Watchdog Corroborates
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed further damage to the enrichment facility in Natanz. Overnight, explosions were reported in Tehran and the nearby city of Karaj, as well as the northeastern city of Mashhad—marking one of the furthest Israeli strikes in the current conflict, approximately 2,300 kilometers from Israel. There, the Israeli Air Force previously destroyed an Iranian refueling aircraft.

A local witness described the Tehran explosion to Iran International: “It was the scariest blast in recent days. The light kept flickering for two minutes.”

Defense Minister: ‘Government Symbols Are Being Bombed in Tehran’
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz posted on X: “A tornado is sweeping across Tehran. Government symbols are being bombed and collapsing—more targets soon.” In a later post, he wrote, “Broadcasting authorities are collapsing, citizens are fleeing en masse. This is how dictatorships fall.”

Missile Attack in Petah Tikva Claims Four Lives
A separate Iranian missile strike on Petah Tikva earlier this week resulted in four deaths, including a married couple, Yaakov and Dasi Blue, who were in their protected room (mamad) during the alert. The other two victims, whose names have not yet been released, were not in protected areas.

Firefighters Brave Danger to Rescue Residents
In dramatic footage from Petah Tikva, firefighters were seen rescuing civilians from a building hit by an Iranian missile, placing their own lives at risk to save others one floor beneath the directly impacted apartment:

The Home Front Command reiterated that protected rooms are primarily designed to protect against shrapnel and blast pressure—not direct hits, which remain rare. They emphasized that even in this severe case, residents in adjacent protected rooms in the same building were unharmed.“The hit in Petah Tikva was a breach of fortification,” said the Home Front Command. “The priority is always to reach a designated protected space, and where that isn’t available—even a stairwell is preferable.”

Israel’s fire and rescue services added: “We urge the public once again to follow instructions. Staying in a mamad saves lives—as clearly seen in the video.”

In coordination with the Airports Authority, passengers from Larnaca who arrived on the first El Al flight this morning were expedited through customs and assisted with their luggage. Israel Railways provided free transport from Ben Gurion Airport to central city hubs.

Israel Railways stated: “We welcome all returning citizens and are doing everything we can to ease their safe return home.”

International Support for Israel’s Actions
On the diplomatic front, U.S. President Donald Trump stated: “Iran will not have nuclear weapons” and confirmed, “We have complete control over Iranian airspace.” German Chancellor Olaf Scholz issued a stern warning: If Iran does not back down, its nuclear program will be destroyed.

Trump further stated in an interview with CNN that he has no intention of meeting Iranian officials—demanding instead “unconditional surrender” in a social media post.
