A total of 189 organizations and activists affiliated with the “Women, Life, Freedom” movement have expressed support for the nationwide strikes by truck drivers and bakers. The “Women, Life, Freedom” movement is a grassroots initiative that gained strength in Iran amid widespread demonstrations calling for women’s rights, political freedoms, and social equality.

Supporters see the strikes as part of a broader political effort to restore “bread and life.” In their public statement, they called to extend the strike to other sectors—including healthcare, education, commerce, and students—and urged the formation of coordination councils in preparation for a general strike.

Protests Spread Across More Than 100 Cities in Iran
The Iranian Truck Drivers Union announced that the strike has now reached over 141 cities and will continue until all demands are met. In a message to drivers and the general public, the union praised the widespread solidarity with the strike and thanked all those who support it, including teachers, retirees, and other workers.

In addition, four independent labor organizations in Iran have voiced their support for the drivers’ strike. In a joint statement, the groups said that the harsh living conditions and the regime’s refusal to respond to the drivers’ demands had triggered what they called a “remarkable and widespread” strike.

They emphasized that the strike is a clear expression of working-class unity in the face of oppression, exploitation, and discrimination by a narrow elite. The organizations called for continued solidarity and collective struggle to change the country’s economic and social reality.
