Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife, Sara Netanyahu, hosted the 2025 Independence Day torchlighters on Monday at the Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem, ahead of Israel’s 77th Independence Day celebrations. Transportation Minister Miri Regev, who oversees the national Independence Day ceremonies, also joined the gathering.
We Are a Small Nation with a Giant Spirit
In his remarks, Netanyahu lauded the fighting spirit and resilience of the Israeli people: “We are a small nation with a giant spirit. There is a tremendous life force in this people that unites us in moments of trial. Our soldiers are lions—fighting, wounded, sacrificing, and continuing to battle even after the gravest injuries. It is this spirit that brings about our miracles.”
Highlighting Recent Military Achievements
Netanyahu also pointed to recent security achievements: “We have brought Hezbollah to its knees, struck Assad’s regime, and launched operations against threats from Iran and the Houthis. The road ahead is still long, but the spirit ignited here will lead us to victory.”
