A late-night drama ended with a successful police rescue: A resident of Baqa al-Gharbiyye, who had been kidnapped by a Palestinian from Hebron due to a financial dispute, was safely rescued by Israeli police during the night (between Thursday and Friday), just moments after being taken into the territory of Judea and Samaria.
The Operation Ended Successfully
Following hours of surveillance and operational effort, the kidnapped man was released by his captor and returned safely to Israeli territory. Later that same night, officers from the Shai District located and arrested the suspect, a resident of Hebron.
Today, the court extended the suspect’s detention until June 9, 2025, and the investigation is continuing under the Coastal District.

A Serious Incident
The unusual event began when the Yam’ar (Special Investigations Unit) of the Coastal District received intelligence indicating that an Israeli citizen had been kidnapped. Coastal District Commander, Deputy Commissioner Yehiel Bohadana, immediately launched Operation “Mistaken Purchase” and established a special investigative command center in cooperation with the Shai District Commander, Border Police (Magav), the ISA (Israel Security Agency), the Etzion Brigade Commander, and Unit 33 (Gideonim). A senior police official stated: “We managed to quickly and accurately build an intelligence picture that enabled us to respond in real time.”
Police emphasized: “This was a serious incident, and we are using every available tool to safeguard the security of Israeli citizens.”
