Marking a significant change in policy, newly-inaugurated President Trump has decisively authorized the Pentagon to resume the supply of one-ton bombs to Israel, reversing a restriction put in place by Biden several months ago.
1,800 Bombs Set for Dispatch
Earlier this evening (Saturday), the website Walla reported that Israel received an announcement yesterday regarding the end of the weapons freeze. The Pentagon was instructed to send Israel bombs weighing 907 kilograms, and according to the report, 1,800 MK-84 bombs are now set to be transferred. After spending over half a year sitting in storage in the United States, the bombs will be loaded onto a ship headed for Israel in the coming days.
The freeze on the shipment of bombs had been imposed by the Biden administration, set in motion in protest of the IDF embarking on operations within Rafah. The administration raised concerns over the potential consequences of the use of one-ton bombs in densely populated residential areas in Gaza, with Biden expressing fear of potential harm to innocent civilians.

Trump’s Steadfast Support for Israel’s Security
Last month, Trump pledged to lift the arms embargo on supplies to Israel, a move that sparked hope for a significant upgrade of the country’s defense systems.
A pivotal move, this isn’t the first pro-Israel action by the new administration. On his day one in office, Trump took several impactful steps for Israel, including halting funding for UNRWA — the controversial United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.
