During their summit in Washington, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu surprised U.S. President Donald Trump with an extraordinary gift: a golden pager alongside a standard issue one.

This gesture was meant to recall one of the most dramatic operations in Israeli history, the Pager Operation in Lebanon, that dealt a major blow to the terrorist organization Hezbollah. Trump, who was familiar with the story behind the pager, replied: “It was a tremendous operation.”

Strengthening Israeli Deterrence
The pager became a symbol following the operation against Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon. The Israeli Mossad successfully carried out a coordinated and surprise attack in which an advanced tactical warning system was deployed via pagers used by Hezbollah operatives. These pagers were designed to provide real-time alerts on enemy movements, ensuring a swift response.

The pagers detonated, hitting numerous Hezbollah militants, and marking a turning point in the fighting in the north and greatly strengthening Israeli deterrence in the region.

“Concluding a Most Successful Visit”
It should be noted that an Israeli diplomatic source stated this morning that the visit was “most successful” and exceeded all “expectations and dreams.” The source emphasized that it was “the friendliest visit between a U.S. president and an Israeli prime minister” and highlighted that President Trump “proposed brilliant solutions to problems that have plagued Israel since its inception.”
