In a symbolic show of sovereignty and security, Israel Police’s Maritime Division held a special Independence Day flotilla Thursday, patrolling the nation’s coastline from the northern border to the southern tip.
The flotilla included a range of operational patrol boats and showcased the newly commissioned armored vessel, a recent addition to the maritime fleet that significantly boosts the police’s naval capabilities.
A Celebration of National Security at Sea
Police officials described the event as a celebration of Israel’s maritime strength, emphasizing the role of maritime patrol in protecting public safety, securing national waters, and affirming Israel’s coastal sovereignty. The event was part of a wider national celebration that merged security and festivity, reflecting the enduring partnership between Israel’s defense forces and its citizens.

Nationwide Turnout in Parks and Nature Reserves

While police vessels patrolled the coastline, over 110,000 Israelis visited national parks and reserves throughout the country, according to the Israel Nature and Parks Authority. Popular destinations included Hurshat Tal in the north, Park Eshkol and Tel Ashkelon in the south, and Caesarea on the coast, among other sites throughout the country.
Despite ongoing wildfire threats in the Judean Hills, authorities reported full public compliance with fire safety regulations, including a near-total ban on open flames.
