The recent decrease in sirens warning of missile fire from Yemen toward Israel is not due to a drop in threats—but rather a success of advanced missile defense systems, primarily Israel’s Arrow 3 and the American THAAD system. This was confirmed Monday by security officials speaking to Israel news station, N12.
According to available data, since the resumption of hostilities in Gaza, over 16 ballistic missiles have been launched from Yemen toward Israel. About half failed due to technical malfunctions, and the rest were intercepted by the multi-layered air defense systems operated by Israel and the U.S.

A Global Protective Shield
The air defense system combines Israel’s Arrow 2 and Arrow 3, the U.S.-operated THAAD system, Patriot batteries, and the AEGIS system stationed on American warships. All systems work in coordination with the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees regional air defense.

THAAD System Bolstered in Israel
The THAAD system, deployed in Israel last October and operated by American troops, has reportedly intercepted at least seven missiles to date. The U.S. recently reinforced Israeli defenses with an additional THAAD battery and two Patriot batteries as part of efforts to strengthen protection from southern ballistic threats.

Cooperation with U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM)
Since 2021, Israel has been integrated into the U.S. military’s CENTCOM, which coordinates all regional defense cooperation. The command unifies detection systems, shares intelligence, and creates a real-time threat picture—allowing for rapid and effective responses to missile launches from Yemen, Iran, and other hostile actors in the region.
