As part of his official visit to the United States, Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir toured the Miami Police Department on Tuesday evening. During the visit, he received a comprehensive tour of the facility, including stops at the command center, the shooting ranges, and the training classrooms used for police instruction. The minister also held conversations with officers in the field.

Ben-Gvir expressed his appreciation for the station’s training procedures, technological capabilities, and operational management. He was given a full overview of police activities. The visit was led by senior command staff from the Miami Police Department.

Metal Menorah and Official Uniform

At the conclusion of the visit, Minister Ben-Gvir presented the station commander with a decorative metal Menorah shaped like the emblem of the State of Israel, as a token of appreciation. In return, the police chief gifted Ben-Gvir an official Miami Police Department uniform.

Visit Agenda
During his stay in the United States, Ben-Gvir is expected to meet with figures from the Trump administration who are responsible for domestic security and law enforcement, as well as with members of the Senate and Congress. He will also meet with Jewish representatives working on behalf of Israel and Jewish communities abroad. In addition to these political meetings, Ben-Gvir is scheduled to deliver several speeches at events and venues throughout the U.S.

A Shift in American Attitudes
The invitation to Washington by senior U.S. officials marks a significant shift in American policy toward the leader of the Otzma Yehudit party, compared to the previous boycott approach taken by the Biden administration. For instance, in November 2024, 88 Democratic members of Congress called on President Joe Biden to impose sanctions on Ministers Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, citing what they described as their “critical roles in driving policies that promote settler violence and undermine the Palestinian Authority.”
