British intelligence report reveals Tehran armed pro-Iranian militias in Iraq with long-range ballistic missiles capable of reaching Europe. Netanyahu: “Only full disarmament like Libya—or the alternative is military.”
Iran has armed pro-Iranian militias in Iraq with a new shipment of advanced weapons, including long-range ballistic missiles, precision cruise missiles, and short-range projectiles, according to a report published Wednesday by The Times (UK), citing Western intelligence sources.
Missiles That Can Reach Europe
This particularly advanced weapons transfer was reportedly conducted overland via the Iran-Iraq border, facilitated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ air force. For the first time, the shipment is said to include missiles with the range to strike targets in Europe.

The arms delivery coincides with ongoing unofficial nuclear talks between Iran and the United States, signaling Iran’s strategy of using regional military escalation as leverage during negotiations.
Conflicting Reports: Militias Preparing for Disarmament?
A separate report from Reuters and Arab media outlets paints a different picture: According to ten Iraqi sources, including senior militia commanders, the groups have begun dispersing, evacuating weapons caches, and relocating assets in anticipation of a potential disarmament agreement with the Iraqi government. The primary concern driving this move—fear of targeted U.S. airstrikes.

Netanyahu’s Warning: Only “Libya-Style” Disarmament Will Do
“We agree Iran must never possess nuclear weapons. This can happen through a deal—but only if it mirrors the Libya model,” Netanyahu said, referring to the 2003 agreement in which Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi dismantled his WMD programs under full international supervision.
Netanyahu insisted that only a deal involving complete dismantling of Iran’s nuclear facilities, under American oversight, would be acceptable.
“Otherwise, the only alternative is military—and everyone understands that,” he said.

Netanyahu stressed that he presented this position in full detail to President Donald Trump during their recent meeting. “We can’t let these talks drag on while Iran builds strength. What’s happening in Iraq is already proof of what’s at stake.”
What Is the “Libya Model”?
The Libya model refers to a 2003 disarmament agreement in which Gaddafi agreed to fully dismantle Libya’s nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons programs. The deal involved full disclosure, transfer of weapons data, international monitoring, and complete destruction of facilities and materials—all executed under U.S. and European supervision.
Netanyahu is calling for any future deal with Iran to meet those same strict standards.
