As part of Operation Swords of Iron, the IDF carried out an overnight (Wednesday–Thursday) airstrike on the Kamal Adwan Hospital compound in northern Gaza—a site that was previously revealed to be a major Hamas terror command center. The strike follows the IDF’s December disclosure that hundreds of terrorists had been operating from the site while using the hospital as cover. This latest attack is part of the advanced stages of the operation, focused on targeting terror infrastructure embedded deep within civilian areas.
Exposing the Headquarters: A Coordinated Special Forces Operation
For years, the building was disguised as a functioning hospital. But in December, fighters from the 401st Brigade, Shayetet 13, Unit 504, the Shin Bet, and the 162nd Division—guided by Military Intelligence—exposed it as a Hamas command center housing hundreds of terrorists. Following a siege by air and ground, many of those operatives reportedly surrendered in response to IDF calls. Now, as part of the ongoing effort to dismantle Hamas’s infrastructure, the decision was made to strike the compound again.
Another Target in the South: Airstrike in the Al-Mawasi Area
Alongside the operation in the north, reports from Gaza indicate that Israeli forces also carried out an airstrike in Al-Mawasi, near Khan Younis. According to the “Gaza Civil Defense,” which operates under Hamas rule, Israeli Air Force jets struck a terror site composed of tents on the outskirts of Al-Isteb Street, sparking a fire. The reports claim 15 people were killed in the attack, though this has not been confirmed by Israeli sources.
The Hashtag: “Stop Exploiting Hospitals”
IDF Arabic-language Spokesman, Brig. Gen. Avichay Adraee, condemned Hamas this morning for its ruthless use of hospitals as staging grounds for terror activity. In a post on his X account, Adraee launched the hashtag: “Stop exploiting hospitals.”
In the continuation of the post, addressed to his 700,000 followers—many of them Arabs and Muslims—Adraee called the terror group “cowards.” He added: “If you’re such heroes, as you claim in videos by Al-Duwairi, Saeed Ziyad, and Al Jazeera, why are you hiding among civilians? Even the residents of Gaza are now publicly calling on you to stay away from them, from hospitals, and from schools,” the IDF Spokesman said.
