Terrorists Caught with Weapons and Military Fleece Jacket Bearing Officer Ranks
In a joint operation conducted yesterday (Tuesday), detectives from the Judea and Samaria Division and officers from the Israel Police Special Patrol Unit (Yassam) raided the village of A-Rifa’iya in an effort to combat the traffic of illegal weapons. The Palestinian village is located near the Jewish community of Carmel in southern Mount Hebron.
During the search, security forces discovered and seized an M16 assault rifle, a Sig Sauer handgun, and a ceramic bulletproof vest. Additionally, a military fleece jacket with IDF officer rank insignia was found. The two suspects were arrested and transferred for further investigation by the Judea Crime Investigations Unit.
The police stated that this offensive operation is, “part of the Judea and Samaria District’s uncompromising fight against terrorism. The Israel Police will continue to act decisively against criminal elements that endanger public safety.”

On Sunday night, the same security forces thwarted a major terror attack at the Mount Carmel Junction. Israeli forces intercepted a vehicle suspected of smuggling illegal weapons for use in an imminent attack. A search of the vehicle uncovered an M16 assault rifle along with a fully loaded magazine, ready for immediate use. The two suspects were arrested and handed over for investigation by the Judea Crime Investigations Unit.
Judea and Samaria District Commander Meir Eliyahu praised the forces’ actions. “This time, we were successful in preventing an attack, but we will remain vigilant and continue to act decisively in the future,” said Commissioner Eliyahu.
