In recent days, the IDF’s 401st Armored Brigade began operating deeper inside northern Gaza, the IDF Spokesperson announced today (Friday).
Targeted elimination of Nukhba deputy company commander
During the fighting, Israeli forces eliminated multiple terrorists, destroyed rocket launchers and underground terror infrastructure, and carried out a targeted aerial strike that killed a deputy company commander in Hamas’s elite Nukhba unit.
Meanwhile, the IDF is also continuing operations in the Shejaiya area, where troops destroyed a central Hamas command and control center used to plan and direct terror attacks. Several additional terrorists were eliminated in that strike as well.
According to the IDF, forces have opened designated evacuation routes to allow civilians to leave the area, in an effort to minimize harm to uninvolved residents.
Hamas commander in southern Lebanon eliminated
In parallel with the Gaza operations, the IDF also acted overnight in the northern arena. In a precision strike near Sidon in southern Lebanon, Israeli forces eliminated Hassan Farhat, Hamas’s commander of the group’s western sector in Lebanon, the IDF Spokesperson confirmed.
Farhat was responsible for the February 14, 2024 rocket attack on the city of Safed, in which Staff Sergeant Sarah Benjo z”l was killed and several other soldiers were wounded. According to the IDF, Farhat continued to direct and promote terror activity in the months since, posing an ongoing and immediate threat. The strike was carried out under the direction of Northern Command and IDF Intelligence.
