A historic moment for the Israel Border Police
For the first time ever, male and female Border Police officers are operating inside Syrian territory as part of an operational mission to maintain public order and respond to disturbances along the northern border. The forces are currently active in the village of Khader in southern Syria, following recent developments in the region.

Border Police Commissioner Barik Yitzhak, together with Commander of the Judea and Samaria Border Police, Deputy Commissioner Nisso Guetta, conducted a field visit to the village of Khader. During the visit, Commissioner Yitzhak received an operational briefing, met with the officers on the ground, and expressed his deep appreciation for their efforts.

“I stand here alongside you with immense pride – your presence here, in Syrian territory, is not only historic, it reflects the essence of the Border Police. We operated in Lebanon, fought in Gaza, and now – here too, when the State of Israel needs us – you are the first to respond. Always ready, everywhere, for any mission. With determination, professionalism, and above all – values that guide you even in the toughest moments,” he said.

Border Police Missions Beyond Borders
This is a historic event for the Israel Border Police, marking the first time its forces have operated within Syrian territory. Until now, Border Police units have taken part in numerous operational missions, including activities in Lebanon and combat in Gaza, where a Mista’arev (undercover Border Police officer) fell in action.

During his visit, the Border Police Commander also stopped at the soccer field in Majdal Shams, which was struck by missile fire during the war, an incident in which children from the Druze community were killed. The commander expressed his deep sorrow and stated: “The Druze community is a pillar of Israeli society and a full partner in the state’s security and resilience. Members of the community are an integral part of the heart of the Border Police, and their contribution is profound and forever cherished.”

Strength and Determination
The Border Police emphasizes that its officers – men and women – are prepared to operate in any sector they are needed, both within Israel’s borders and beyond, serving as the vanguard of internal security. The operation in Syria is seen as a new peak in the operational scope of the Border Police, with the goal of ensuring public order in the area and enabling a safe routine for local residents.
