Sidon, Southern Lebanon - In a targeted overnight operation between Thursday and Friday, the Israeli Air Force struck and killed Hassan Farhat, the Hamas commander responsible for the organization’s western sector operations in Lebanon.

The strike, coordinated by Israel’s Northern Command and Military Intelligence Directorate, aimed to eliminate an immediate threat along Israel’s northern border. Farhat was behind the February 14 rocket attack on the northern Israeli city of Safed, which killed IDF soldier Staff Sergeant Omer Sara Banjo and wounded several others.

According to the IDF Spokesperson, Farhat had continued developing Hamas’s operational infrastructure in Lebanon and was considered a persistent and direct threat to Israeli security. His elimination is seen as a significant blow to Hamas’s presence in Lebanon.
