The Israeli Air Force successfully intercepted two rockets launched from northern Gaza on Wednesday evening. Air raid sirens were activated across communities in the Gaza border region following the launch. According to the IDF, there were no injuries or damage reported.

The incident comes as the Israel Defense Forces continue intensive operations in the southern Gaza Strip, maintaining a high level of alert.

“We’ve Shifted Gears,” Says Netanyahu

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commented on the expanding ground offensive, stating that Israeli forces had “shifted gears” in their campaign against Hamas.

“Tonight, in the Gaza Strip, we’ve stepped up our actions. The IDF is seizing territory, striking terrorists, and destroying infrastructure,” Netanyahu said.

Strategic Focus: The “Second Philadelphi Route”

The Prime Minister emphasized the military’s focus on a key corridor in southern Gaza. “We are now taking control of the Morag Axis,” Netanyahu announced, referring to the strategic corridor between Khan Younis and Rafah. He dubbed it “the second Philadelphi Route,” likening it to the historic buffer zone along the Gaza-Egypt border.

Pressure on Hamas to Release Hostages

Netanyahu reiterated that the intensified military pressure is designed to force Hamas to release Israeli hostages still held in Gaza. “We are slicing through the Gaza Strip, increasing pressure step by step so that they’ll give us back our hostages,” he said. “The more they refuse, the more the pressure will increase.”

The Prime Minister concluded with a firm message: “We are determined to achieve the goals of this war, and with our brave soldiers—we will.”
