The United States and Israel have discussed the possibility of the U.S. government leading a temporary administration in the Gaza Strip, according to a report published on Wednesday by Reuters. The high-level talks focused on a plan to rehabilitate the area, modeled after the Western coalition’s efforts in Iraq following the fall of Saddam Hussein.
According to the report, the proposed temporary administration would be led by the U.S. and would include representatives from additional countries invited to participate in the reconstruction project. In the planned model, neither Hamas nor the Palestinian Authority would take part in governing the Strip. The goal is to establish a stable civilian administration that would rebuild the destroyed infrastructure and provide essential services to the local population.

International Administration in the Gaza Strip
The proposed temporary administration is intended to serve as a transitional governing body following the end of hostilities, with a focus on building civilian institutions and public infrastructure. The idea is to create a governing framework under international supervision to ensure responsible and balanced development and reconstruction.

American officials involved in the process noted that the model is similar to the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq, aimed at creating stability during the transition from a hostile regime to civilian rule. However, the officials emphasized that this is still an early-stage idea and that no final decisions have yet been made.

An International Coalition
Under the emerging plan, additional countries would be invited to participate in the reconstruction of Gaza. The temporary administration would collaborate with international aid organizations and oversee the delivery of humanitarian assistance to the population.
Israel has expressed interest in the plan, hoping to stabilize the region after the fighting ends and to ensure that the new administration does not pose a security threat to Israel. At the same time, possibilities are being explored to involve moderate Arab states in order to secure the broadest possible legitimacy.
