This morning (Saturday), at around 07:30, the quiet on the northern border was shattered. Six rockets were fired toward the Metula area, three of which were intercepted by the Israel Air Force. As an immediate response, the IDF struck dozens of Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon, including launchers and a military command center.
Despite the recent elimination of a senior Radwan Force operative, Hezbollah denies any involvement in the rocket fire and claims adherence to the ceasefire agreement.

“Metula and Beirut are the same. We will not allow violations of sovereignty.”
The IDF emphasized that “this rocket fire constitutes a severe violation of our understanding with Lebanon” and that Lebanon bears responsibility for what occurs within its territory. Following the incidents, IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir conducted a situational assessment, and Defense Minister Israel Katz ordered a strong response: “We will not accept a situation in which rockets are fired from Lebanon at Galilee communities. We promised security for the Galilee—and that is exactly what will be. Metula and Beirut are the same. The Lebanese government is responsible for any fire originating from its territory. I have instructed the IDF to respond accordingly.”

Calls to Accelerate Reinforcement and Protection of Northern Communities
Amid the escalation, northern municipal leaders voiced urgent calls for action. Asaf Langlevan, head of the Upper Galilee Regional Council, urged the government to accelerate protective measures for communities and strengthen the local economy. “This is the time for joint action—there is no room for delay,” he stated.
Despite the situation, no new instructions have been issued for northern residents. Israel’s Home Front Command continues to monitor developments in coordination with local authorities, while the Air Force remains on high alert across all fronts.
Missile Launch from Yemen—Successful Interception
Even before the rocket fire from Lebanon, alarms were sounded last night (Friday night into Saturday) in central Israel, including the Rishon Lezion area and Jerusalem. It was later confirmed that the alert was triggered by a missile launched from Yemen, which was successfully intercepted by Israel’s air defense system.
